Tyler ISD is moving a pre-k bilingual program from full-day to half-day.

Program coordinator Frances Balderrama says the switch will allow the district to serve more than 170 students, which is twice as many as before.

She says the program helps students develop their language, math and social skills.

Bonner and Douglas Elementary Schools will remain the host sites for the bilingual pre-k.
