TYLER (KYTX) - The Troup Independent School District will have to adopt a deficit budget for 2010-2011 which could total $600,000.

Troup ISD's preliminary property values dropped almost $47 million dollars, primarily because of a decline in mineral values.

According to the Smith County Appraisal District, that's almost a 16.5% decline from last year's certified value of more than $287 million dollars.

Superintendent Marvin Beaty said the district now needs to watch discretionary expenses, but it is not cutting any programs or personnel.
