TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler ISD school board is bracing for big changes in standardized testing.
Dr. Randy Reid briefed board members Thursday (11/18) about the new State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or "STARR" system.
The Texas Education Agency will unveil the new STAAR exams next school year and gradually replace the TAKS tests that have been in place since 2003.
With the new tests, the emphasis will be on a student's preparedness for the next grade and/or subject area.
