Pedorthics is defined as "the design, manufacture, fitting, modification, and follow-up care for patients requiring shoes and related foot appliances, inserts, or build-up as prescribed for relief of painful or disabling conditions of the foot".

ETPOC is adept in creating footwear solutions for problem feet.  Specialties include diabetic foot care, custom-molded shoes, inserts, rotational control foot orthoses, post-surgical footwear, and prosthetic to fillers/arch supports.

As an ABC Staffed facility, ETPOC specializes in patient assessments, recommendations for shoe or insert selection, manufacture, fitting, modification, and follow-up care for a wide variety of patients with special needs.  Examples of pedorthic services and the patients we treat include individuals requiring:

• Relief of foot pain associated with pes planus (flat feet) or other conditions such as plantar fasciitis
• Relief of heel spur pain
• Accommodations for foot deformities
• Re-alignment of anatomical structures
• Improvement of balance
• Reduction of knee or back pain
• Pressure relief due to callous formation and diabetic ulcers
• Accommodations for lower extremity swelling due to circulatory problems, stroke, or neurological conditions

When a patient's ability to walk is affected, the selection of anything surrounding or touching the foot is critical in order to reach a positive outcome or treatment.  Our patients using inserts, ankle-foot-orthoses (AFO's), or prosthetic devices have special footwear needs making pedorthics a crucial part of recommended treatment plans.

Our practice sees a great deal of diabetic patients who are referred by would care clinics and come to our office with non-healing ulcers or re-current calluses.  These patients are at a higher risk of losing a toe, foot, or leg.  At ETPOC, we are committed to helping these patients and other healthcare providers in every way possible in order to avoid limb loss and to maintain an active, uninterrupted lifestyle.
