Online schooling for kids

TYLER (KYTX) - Would you consider letting your child attend class online?

Texas Connections Academy made a stop in Tyler to talk about virtual public schools Thursday.

The session gives parents a chance to meet with certified teachers and parents who have children enrolled to learn if the program is a fit for their student.

"Very rigorous and rewarding curriculum," said Connections Academy teacher, Sallie Benazzouz. "It's for parents who really want a say in what their child is learning. You have the state curriculum aligned to state standards along with these certified teachers."

The school loans each family a computer and reimburses for Internet connection as well as providing all course materials.

Texas Connections Academy @ Houston is a full-time statewide virtual school for students in grades 3–10 under the terms of the Texas Electronic Course Pilot (eCP) in partnership with the Houston Independent School District (HISD).
