Boulter Middle School Student Council was recently elected to serve as President of the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) for District 4/19 at TASC's Spring Forum held in Bullard, Texas. The Student Council was nominated for this special honor for their commitment to community service, good standing in the organization and their leadership skills. The Council's theme of "Live the Legacy" will carry them through their newly elected position. Boulter's Student Council was elected by their peers with more than 550 students from area school districts in attendance.
Student Council President Sheldon McGowan, eighth grader at Boulter Middle School, accepted the nomination saying, "Thank you for this vote of confidence and opportunity to serve. Boulter will not let you down." During his acceptance speech, McGowan shared with the convention that Boulter Middle School is already planning and working on new ideas and events to make TASC even better.
Pamelia Franklin Adams, student council advisor said, "Boulter Student Council has been extremely active this year hosting special events like Veterans' Day and the Board of Friends, sponsoring a canned food drive to benefit PATH, and partnering with other student groups such as AVID during its recent and highly successful campus-wide Career Day."
Boulter Middle School serves as the feeder school to John Tyler High School, according to Adams. "Boulter is determined to continue sending John Tyler High School student leaders that are dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence in leadership, scholarship and commitment to community service."
