Birth defects identified from smoking while pregnant

(CBS) - Researchers have pinpointed specific birth defects linked to smoking during pregnancy.

A new study finds that smoking increases the risk for missing or deformed limbs, clubfoot, facial disorders, and gastrointestinal problems.

The authors at University College London recommend stronger warnings about the dangers of maternal smoking.

In the U.S., 20 percent of women under 25 smoke during pregnancy.
