Chance of developing autism could depend on sibling

(CBS) - New research suggests nearly one in five children with an autistic older sibling will develop the disorder as well.

Researchers from the University of California Davis followed more than 650 babies who had an older brother or sister with autism.

They found about 19 percent were diagnosed with autism by their third birthday, a rate higher than previously thought. The highest risk showed up in children with at least two autistic siblings.
