Courtney Friedman is thrilled to be reporting in East Texas and is excited to continue calling the Lone Star state home. She joined the CBS 19 news team in June of 2010 as the morning producer and reporter. She's now out and about every day, telling the important stories of East Texans, as a general assignments reporter.
Courtney grew up in sunny San Diego, California. She eventually left the West Coast to become a Longhorn at the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. While at the University of Texas, Courtney was on Communication Council, the leadership body for the College of Communications. She worked for the school's newscast, Texas Newswatch and volunteered at UT's television station, TSTV. She also was a 4-year member of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and philanthropic organization.
Courtney was lucky to intern at two Austin news stations, KTBC Fox 7, and KXAN NBC 36. There she worked alongside talented people who inspired her to work hard for a career she loves. She also lived in Spain for 6 months, where she studied International Communications and Spanish. She traveled to 10 different countries, and got to experience a myriad of cultures.
When she's not working, Courtney enjoys traveling, being outside, trying new foods, reading a good book, and spending time with family and friends. If you have a story idea, send it over to her - she'd love to hear it!
