Insomnia takes toll on job performance

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - Insomnia takes a heavy toll, both on a personal level, and at the workplace. That's because a sleepless night cuts into a worker's job performance.

A study in the journal "Sleep" finds that workers with insomnia accomplish less because they're tired. That comes to more than 11 days a year in lost productivity. With about 23 percent of American workers suffering sleep problems, the loss of productivity adds up to $63 billion a year.
