(CBS) - Freshmen at Texas Tech must now take an alcohol awareness education course. The university is hoping "Alcohol Edu" will help underage students, like Ramie Hall, make informed decisions about drinking.
It's a confidential and personalized online program. Students take part one before they get on campus and part two after the semester starts.
"They may have thought everyone drank on campus, but after taking the course they realize there are quite a few students who just aren't that interested in drinking."
Students say while the class was time consuming, it was educational and helpful. It teaches how to handle different drinking scenarios and why it's important to be careful and look out for your friends
