KINGSTOWN, IN (CNN) - With Halloween approaching, it may be the season for scares. But one Indiana family didn't even have to leave home to get spooked. They found bones and graphic morgue photos inside their own house.
At a house in Knightstown, Indiana, the homeowners have their entire porch covered with skeletons and goblins for Halloween. But for the Boohers, it's the skeletons they found inside their home that has them spooked.
"Just a fear that I can't come through there."
Patricia and her husband, Richard, uncovered gruesome morgue photos, bottles of formaldehyde and a complete set of human remains hidden in their home.
"Boxes full of stuff."
The mysterious items were stuffed away in their son's bedroom attic.
"The embalming fluid box was full. All the bottles had not been open."
Then, Richard and his daughter went to the basement this weekend and made another discovery.
"That's where we found some bones."
Here's pictures from Knightstown police.
"They found one bone over there and another bone over there."
Investigators confirmed these fragments to be bones. Their county coroner's office is now investigating the case. They've sent the bones to Ball State University's Anthropology Department to be identified.
"We don't believe that there's anything criminal in nature at this time. There was some actual old embalming chemicals that were in the attic as well, so it's probably good to get those out of the house."
The Boohers said when they stumbled upon them, they were just looking for space to store their air conditioner for the winter.
"We just thought it was old stuff from people that maybe had lived here before and left old knick-knacks and dishes."
Police say the bones found in the attic were part of a model.
