Study suggests heart attacks don't discriminate

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - A new study may make you question your idea of the typical heart attack victim.

Researchers in Minnesota found 70 percent of recent heart attack victims didn't even know they had coronary heart disease. And 60 percent of those patients were women or younger men- under 56 years old.

The study says those groups rarely qualify as high-risk, so they don't usually get the preventative medicines, like Aspirin and Statins that can reduce their risk.
