Local country star shoots music video in downtown Longview

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW (KYTX) -- You could tell something big was happening in downtown Longview today with streets blocked off and camera crews all around. It's the set of country music star Neal McCoy's new music video. CBS 19's Abby Broyles was there today and talked with the East Texas native about his new album.

This country music star is home for holidays - and getting a little work done on the side. Right downtown, Longview's own Neal McCoy shoots the music video for his latest single, "A-OK."

"I've been on the road a bunch this year, just like every year we run a lot, and instead of taking more time away from my family, I said it'd be great if we could shoot this thing in Longview," McCoy said.

And that's exactly what they did.

Neal's tour bus parked on Tyler street all day long. Local kids and even a few adults showed up to be a part of it all.

"I thought why not enjoy the day, come out here and have fun," Alexis Burns said.

And if you've ever met Neal McCoy, you know you're gonna have some fun.

The single is on his new album set to be released in March. He's now done a dozen records in his career.

"It's X-I-I. That's '12' for the educated people, and then for the rednecks like us we put 'twelve' under there," McCoy said.

McCoy rode out in style Wednesday with one last goodbye before they wrapped up for the day.

Two other country music stars are producing the album - Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.

You may remember Lambert is from Lindale.

The music video should come out by the beginning of next year.
