(CNN) - It was certainly a Merry Christmas for one very lucky Maryland resident! Someone in Elkton, just outside of Baltimore, is the owner of a Powerball lottery ticket worth $125 million dollars.
On Telegraph Road in Elkton, Wesley's has been in business for decades, but never has the buzz been this strong. "Mind boggling as heck, you know, how this thing happened to us," says John Wesley, store owner.
John Wesley can't believe his family-run business just sold the $125 million winning Powerball ticket. He proudly showed off a copy of the prize-winning numbers: 14-16-30-51-52, Powerball was 19 with a Power Play of 2. The ticket automatically earns his store $25,000.
After taxes, the winner walks away with nearly 52 million in cash. "I would say good chance it was not a regular," says Wesley. He knows many of his customers and says the Powerball winner has already called the store to confirm his numbers. "One of my employees talked to him and he said he thinks he got the ticket here, and they asked the number. The guy said, I'll be in two days to see you. I want everything to settle down a little bit," says Wesley.
This is only the second time that a winning Powerball jackpot ticket has been sold at a Maryland store.
"We spend every Christmas Eve here and on my way out, my husband bought a ticket," says Terri Wilfong. The Wesley regular hopes she was the winner, but not so. Now, she and the rest of Elkton wait to find out whose Christmas wish is coming true.
"There were a lot of people in and out yesterday, so I hope it's somebody that really needs the money. Um, you know, it's a lot of money. It's going to change their lives for the better, I hope, but a great Christmas present," says Wilfong.
