(CBS) - Joran van der Sloot is scheduled to stand trial Friday in Peru for the murder of Stephany Flores.

Van der Sloot has confessed he killed the 21 year old student he met at a poker tournament but insists it was a crime of passion. He says he killed Flores in an argument after she found material about Natalee Holloway on his laptop.

Holloway is the Alabama teen who vanished on a graduation trip to Aruba in 2005. She was last seen leaving a bar with van der Sloot and two of his friends.

Van der Sloot was questioned repeatedly but never charged in that crime.
