Children Are A Gift: Charlene and Janice

Posted: Updated:

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) -- Charlene and Janice look up to their big brother Marquice.

"He still carries them around like they're little bitty because they've been apart for five years, since he was seven years old," Child Protective Services Kim Rhodes said. "He still thinks of them as little bitty kids."

But they're not so little anymore. Janice is now 10 years old and about to enter the fifth grade.

"I like to sing pop songs and silly songs," she said. "I like to read and I like to do math and writing."

Janice is also the mother out the group.

"She likes to tell everybody what they're doing good and what they're not doing good," Rhodes said. "She keeps everybody in line."

This friendly and talkative girl gets along well with her 9-year-old sister Charlene who is about to enter the fourth grade.

"I like cheerleading, basketball and football," she said.

Charlene is sweet and affectionate towards others and her siblings.

"She's very considerate of the other two," Rhodes said. "If we go somewhere to buy something she's like 'we'll get my brother some gum and my sister some candy.' So she really loves her brother and sister."

Both girls like to dance and be involved in church. They cherish the time they spend together with their brother.

"We've been looking for a long time for a family for them," Rhodes said. "It's not because of them, it's just we haven't found just the right fit for them."

"The right fit," means these siblings will be together again.
