First “10 in 10 Challenge” weigh-in scheduled

Posted: Updated:

Released by the City of Tyler

The first weigh-in for the City Manager's "10 in 10 Fit City Challenge," will be held at the East Texas Food Bank on Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m.  The Food Bank is located at 3201 Robertson Road.  All subsequent weigh-ins will be held on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. at various locations throughout the City.

The City Manager's goal for the challenge is to encourage himself and others to lose 10 pounds in the next 10 weeks, particularly in light of the fact that many people put on weight during the holiday season.

McDaniel has specifically called out Tyler Telegraph Publisher Nelson Clyde to join him in the challenge.

"I have challenged Nelson to lose 10 pounds in the next 10 weeks," said McDaniel.  "If he doesn't lose the weight, this time he has to shave his head."

McDaniel shaved his own head last June after losing another Fit City Challenge to Nelson.

At least 30 other community leaders have joined the 10 in 10 Challenge and will be participating in the weekly weigh-ins, including George Roberts of the NorthEast Texas Public Health System, Sherriff J.B. Smith, Tyler Telegraph Editor Dave Berry, and others.

For more information on the program contact Susan Guthrie at (903) 533-7444 or for Fit City Challenge information, visit www.fitcitytyler.com.
