Cruise ship search, captain admits he "made a mistake"

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) -- The captain of the ill-fated Costa Concordia cruise ship admits he "made a mistake" when he crashed into rocks off the Italian coast.

But in statements, Francesco Schettino is claiming ship managers pressured him to steer the ship closer to shore.

16 people died and more than a dozen are still missing. Divers in Italy are still searching the Costa Concordia, looking for any possible survivors.

One more body was found yesterday. The death toll now stands at 16. Back on shore, prosecutors are moving forward with their investigation. They say captain Francesco Schettino piloted the ship too close to Giglio Island. He's under house arrest and faces possible charges of manslaughter, shipwreck and abandoning ship. The captain maintains his innocence.

Meanwhile, eleven days after the disaster, survivors are still arriving back home with new video of the confusion from the day of the disaster, as passengers scrambled to evacuate. Honeymooners David and Denise Saba say the scariest moment was on the overcrowded lifeboat when they feared for their lives.

"It came down very violently. It was like a free fall into the water. We thought we were going to rollover and get into the water upside down."

There's still 2,400 tons of fuel on board the cruise ship. Undersea experts will not start siphoning it before Saturday, A process that will take almost a month to complete.
