East Texas flooding, wrecks, dangerous areas

TYLER (KYTX) - Heavy rain in East Texas forces some flooded streets to close and is making it a dangerous day of driving. CBS 19's Field Sutton has more on what road crews are doing to keep you safe in the rainy conditions.

The Tyler dispatch is reporting high water at the intersection of Douglas and Noble, Erwin just west of Palace and Callaway near Lazy Creek. Lighting also hit a structure near FM 346 in Whitehouse.

Highway 110 South at CR 2186 car. A woman driving northbound on Troup Highway, she tried to apply her breaks after the car in front of her did, but the woman hydroplaned, spun out of control and wrecked in a ditch on the other side of the highway.

"I'm okay, thank God, and there are so many people that don't walk away from accidents," she said. "I'm so grateful to God. He's so good."

She was not injured.

DPS is reminding drivers not to drive into any standing water, and to slow down on all wet roads and leave more space between cars.
