TYLER (KYTX) - Americans consume more calories as a nation on Super Bowl Sunday than on any other day of the year, except Thanksgiving.
By the time the final whistle blows at Super Bowl 46, Americans will have downed 156 billion calories, so alternative options might have you feeling less guilty come Monday.
It's something both Patriots and Giants fans will have in common this Super Bowl Sunday - they'll be going into overtime on food.
Chips and salsa, 7 layer dips, guacamole, hot wings, chili, beer - and the list goes on.
East Texans may not have known the Super Bowl topped the list of American pig out days, but most weren't shocked.
Tylerite Jennifer Plunk says, "Along with the beverages that people drink and all the fattening food, yeah I could see it's number two."
Trying to be health conscious for the Super Bowl this year doesn't mean you have to cut out the fun. Try substituting one option, for a healthier option.
Michael Brady is the Executive Chef at Fresh by Brookshire's. He says small substitutes can go a long way.
"Using carrots instead of chips, doing humus or salsa, or a chunky vinaigrette instead of ranch dressing," Brady says.
And of course, we can't forget the beverages.
Brady says, "Light beer is going to be better than Budweiser, and if you're a cocktail fan, try your diet sodas or your tonic water, your soda water."
Tylerite Chris Ontiveros says the Super Bowl isn't for sipping lightly.
"I would substitute the food but not the beer!"
Some are planning ahead, avoiding the football fields they'll have to run Monday, to burn all those calories.
Plunk says, "Fruit trays, maybe meat trays, instead of the carbohydrates and chips."
Others, aren't budging on the bulge.
Tylerite Charles Whitehead says, "Not this year, maybe in the future!"
Brady's ultimate football frenzy advise - take a load off.
He says, "At the end of the day, it's the Super Bowl. You're supposed to enjoy yourself!"
The average calorie intake of a Super Bowl party goer is 1,200 calories.
