(CBS) - Tough economic times won't stop Americans from spending on their sweethearts this Valentine's Day.

The average person will spend 8% more than they did last year, that's about 126 dollars.  The most popular gifts for the holiday, cards and chocolates.

And there's nothing new about getting coffee on the go unless you're a skier.  Starbucks has opened its first ski-thru coffee shop at squaw valley in California.  Skiers can pull up, place and order, and be back on the slopes in no time.

Fans are snapping up Whitney Houston's songs online.  "I Will Always Love You" is the most downloaded song in the last 24 hours.  Houston was found dead in her Beverly Hills hotel room on Saturday night.

Google is one step closer to buying Motorola Mobility.  The 12 and a half billion dollar bid was cleared Monday by regulators in both the U.S. and Europe.  The deal still needs approval from China, Taiwan and Israel.

Motorola Mobility has hundreds of wireless patents and is expected to help Google better compete with apple and Microsoft as they try to gain control over mobile devices.
