(CNN) - You know that song, "Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places?" Turns out it may actually be true.
So, if you spent Valentine's Day as a "single" and want a "plus- one", you may just need a change of scenery. Kiplinger's Personal Finance ranked the best cities in America for singles looking to settle down and build up a financial future.
Number five on the list -- Los Angeles, number four -- Baltimore, at number three -- Santa Cruz, CA, number two -- Bloomington, Illinois and the number one city for singles -- Ann Arbor, Michigan, a university town. That's a common theme among the highest-ranked cities.
"You sort of make an assumption that it's going to be a lot of undergraduates, but there also tend to be very high-paying jobs there, a lot of graduate and professional students, so it's more of a demographic thing than you might assume," says Caitlin Dewey, Kiplinger's Personal Finance Web Producer.
Other cities in the top ten included Iowa City, New York and Philadelphia.
