(KYTX) -- Citi Group has agreed to pay 158 million dollars to settle claims that it duped the government into insuring thousands of risky home loans.

Investigators say the misconduct lasted for more than six years.

More than a third of those mortgages went into default, resulting in millions of dollars in losses for the government because of the insurance claims.
