LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Spring is officially here, and that means it's time to do some "spring cleaning" around your home, like cleaning out closets and getting rid of old electronics.
CBS 19's Abby Broyles shows us where you can donate those household items this weekend.
This time of year means it's time to de-clutter your closets.
"I've got 3 kids at home so I'm going through all their old clothes, a lot of the winter stuff, the stuff they've outgrown, the backpacks," Tiffany Scott.
Tiffiny Scott and other local real estate agents are collecting clothes and household items for a big donation drive this weekend in Longview.
"We're going to have our agents here helping to unload vehicles so nobody actually has to get out of their vehicle, we're going to be unloading all of that stuff for them," Scott said.
About 15-20 real estate agents will be on hand Saturday from 10:00 - 3:00 for the drive at Noon and Associates at Loop 281 and Bill Owens Parkway.
On Saturday, two Goodwill trucks will be in the parking lot to collect your donations, dozens of items you probably already have around your house.
Goodwill volunteers will be collecting items on this checklist:
1. Clothing for adults and kids
2. Children's toys
3. Books and cookbooks
4. Kitchen housewares
5. Cell phones, computers and other electronics
"The cell phones, computers, we're going to recycle those, make sure all the information is wiped off of those and get those recycled," Scott said.
And you'll get a receipt for a tax deduction for all of the items you donate.
People who make donations Saturday will also receive a free bucket full of cleaning supplies.
