DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) The 17-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted and stabbed on her way to school last week has been released from the hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital officials said Tuesday.

At about 7:30 a.m. on April 25, the girl was dragged behind a furniture store near Love Field.

Police say she was sexually assaulted, stabbed and left behind a Dumpster. She was on her way a Dallas Area Rapid Transit stop at Maple Ave. and Kings Rd. en route to school.

An employee at the furniture store found the girl and called police. The victim was able provide a detailed description of her attacker: Dallas Police called in a canine unit and Tommy Robinson, 59, was arrested while bathing in a nearby creek.

Robinson, who also goes by the alias of Tommy King, was charged with aggravated sexual assault. He's jailed on a $1.5 million bond.

Until Tuesday, the victim was too badly injured for officers to show her a photo lineup. Five days after the attack, Dallas Police spokesman Kevin Janse said detectives interviewed the girl and showed her a lineup before she was released from the hospital.

As such, Tuesday was the first day media outlets were allowed to publish Robinson's mug shot.

Neighbors say Robinson is homeless and police say he has a criminal background that includes assault and domestic violence charges.
