UPDATE (2:25 p.m.) - Several counties are still reporting outages across East Texas.
Smith County is showing to have the most reported outages with over 1500 customers still without power.
Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, and Van Zandt Counties are all reporting less than 100 customer without power.
Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered across East Texas this afternoon, tonight and Friday before decreasing as the weekend arrives.
Radar estimates show some places west of Nacogdoches received 5 inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours. Much of our area received at least an inch of rainfall. A low pressure center over southwest Oklahoma and extreme north Texas is expected to make its way south-southeastward tonight bringing more rain to our area.
The low will finally move far enough to the east to bring an end to most if not all of the rain before the weekend. Most high temperatures will be in the low 90s with lows in the low 70s. East winds tonight will become southerly 5 to 10 mph Friday.
UPDATE (11:53 a.m.) - Crews are still working to restore power for thousands of East Texans without it.
Oncor is reporting just over 2100 customers remaining without power. Most of the power outages are in Smith County.
Other counties reporting outages are Anderson, Angelina, Cherokee, Henderson, Nacogdoches, Rusk, and Van Zandt.
EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Thousands of East Texans are still without power this morning.
Oncor is reporting just under 4- thousand, most of those are in Smith County. Other counties reporting outages are Anderson, Henderson, and Rusk. We spoke with Charles Hill from Oncor earlier this morning. He tells us everyone should have power by late this afternoon. Swepco is reporting no outages.
Meanwhile, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue today as a large upper low drops into DFW later today.
It will move slowly towards the upper Texas coast by Friday evening. A better chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms exists tonight as the low approaches. Highs today should only top out in the mid 80's.
