Parts of East Texas under Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Posted: Updated:

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - A severe Thunderstorm Watch is still in effect for parts of East Texas until 11 am. This is for the Texas/Louisiana border counties back to Tyler and south to Nacogdoches. Most of the stronger thunderstorms are moving off into Louisiana/Arkansas this morning
with a tail of storms still hanging on over Panola and Shelby counties.

These storms will continue to drift east and have the potential
to dump some very heavy rain. More redevelopment of storms is likely
this afternoon and evening. There will be a chance we'll see thunderstorms Wednesday morning.

There are also reports of trees being down in Winnsboro, Mineola, Morris county and Titus county.  Powerlines are also down in Quitman.  Right now, Swepco is reporting just over 950 people without power. Oncor has a little over 18- hundred people without power. Crews are working to get power restored as soon as possible.
