WE Consumer Corner: Hundreds of Thousands of Camrys investigated

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - The government's investigation of fires in Toyotas has expanded to include the most popular car in America.  The probe now includes 600,000 Camrys from the 2008 and 2009 model years.

Toyota and the government have received 161 complaints of fires starting in the doors of the Camrys along with several other Toyota models. $1.4 million vehicles are included in the investigation.

The government's consumer watchdog agency launches an online database of credit card complaints.  The website-run by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau lets you search to find out what kinds of complaints have been filed against banks that issue credit cards.

You can also search by zip code to find out how banks responded to complaints.  The agency says it will use the information to track and identify potential problems-like a card that carries hidden fees. It's also a helpful research tool to use before you sign up for a credit card.  The database does not include personal information.

The majority of Americans say their views about the economy and their own finances will play a role in who they vote for in the upcoming presidential election.  A bankrate.com poll finds 59% of Americans say their own personal financial situation is an important factor in deciding who they'll vote for in November.  Franklin Roosevelt was the last sitting president to win re-election with unemployment above 7.2%.

The latest government figure puts the current unemployment rate at 8.2%.
