(CBS) - Loneliness can be dangerous for your health. In a new study, researchers in San Francisco asked more than a thousand seniors if they felt "left out" or isolated. Nearly half responded that they felt lonely. The study found that six years later, those who were lonely were at an increased risk of death. They were also more likely to have trouble performing daily activities such as climbing stairs.

(CBS) - About 46 million Americans did not have health insurance last year -- that's according to newly released government statistics. The total is lower than it was in 2010, but it's still higher than the 41 million uninsured reported in 1997. A little more than 5 million of the uninsured are under the age of 18. That's a sharp drop from the nearly 10 million uninsured kids in 1997.

(CBS) - Many surgical interns have big concerns about new work restrictions. Last summer, new standards were implemented for first year residents limiting shifts to a maximum of 16 hours. But a new survey of interns finds a majority think the new restrictions would cut their time operating and hurt their surgical skills. A majority also feels though that the changes would decrease fatigue.
