TYLER (KYTX) -- The old Goodyear plant is undergoing a makeover with construction at the site in full swing. However, it's not all coming down.
Tom Mullins, President and CEO of the Tyler Economic Development Council, says they're bringing in some heavy equipment to demolish only parts of the plant.
"They're knocking down part of the buildings," Mullins said. "Some people thought they might be clearing the whole area, but they're taking down some of the buildings that had been specifically designed to use for a tire manufacturer."
He said these changes are necessary for potential businesses to buy the space.
We're told several companies are interested in purchasing or leasing the property. Goodyear pulled the plug on the operation in 2008.
