PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - A missing Plano woman was found alive at DFW International Airport on Sunday, and was taken to a local hospital two days after her family said that she disappeared from their home. News about Janice Klein came late at night, after more than 1,000 volunteers joined in the search for the missing 47-year-old woman.
A spokesman for the Plano Police Department said early Monday that Klein was found by DFW Airport Police, who received a call on Sunday afternoon about a woman in one of the airport restrooms. The woman was reportedly dehydrated and transported by ambulance to the hospital. After seeing local news broadcasts on Sunday night, DFW Airport Police contacted the Plano Police Department.
Authorities do not know how Klein got to the airport, and there is no word on what part of the terminal facilities she was found.
Earlier on Sunday, the search had intensified for the missing mom. "Seems even more organized than yesterday," said 15-year-old Zachary Kolodny, a friends of Klein's son in Boy Scouts. Kolodny and his family had spent two days visiting local businesses. "We've been asking them if we can post a poster that says that Janice is missing."
"Some people even ask for two, so they can post it inside and out," said Kolodny's younger brother, Isaac. The fliers were translated into Spanish, Mandarin and Vietnamese.
"I feel it. I feel for the children. I feel for the husband," said Kolodny's mother, Lisa.
Klein's family released video of her on a Disney vacation earlier this month. They said that she had been complaining of headaches and stomach pains before she disappeared from her home on Friday afternoon. Friends believe that she may have become disoriented and wandered off. The Plano Police Department said that a possible sighting of Klein showed that she may have walked south down Preston Road and past a strip mall, stopping at a Williams-Sonoma store.
Organizers divided up volunteers into groups, searching residential areas, retail shops, and woods and creeks. Nonprofit groups, like Equusearch and Search One, had also arrived to offer their expertise. Donations of food and water flooded in. Even a low-flying helicopter arrived, on loan from billionaire businessman Ross Perot.
Before she was found on Sunday night, volunteers had planned to meet again on Monday at Daffron Elementary School in Plano to continue the search.
