A 38-year-old Tyler woman accused of injecting two women with a clear, liquid gel substance who came to her beauty salon seeking breast and buttock augmentations has had her trial set to July 9.

Carmel Mitchelle Foster owns the Queen Divas salon on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Tyler. She faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if she is convicted, prosecutor Richard Vance said today.

One of the women had to be hospitalized in Longview in February and placed on a ventilator because of a pneumothorax (a buildup of air) and blood in both lungs, Tyler police have said. The woman has since been released from the hospital.

CBS 19 spoke with Lizie Arroyo, A friend of foster, outside the courthouse.

Arroyo said she participated in cosmetic injection parties with Foster and doesn't think anything illegal was done.

"She's known here in Tyler as a hairstylist not as a doctor. We didn't feel like it was illegal. We were shocked to find out she was in jail," said Arroyo.

Foster has been confined in the Smith County jail since February on a $200,000 bond. The pretrial hearing took place in the 7th District Court
