Flooding, tornadoes still a threat for Florida

Posted: Updated:

Northern Florida (CBS) - Northern Florida is taking a pounding from Tropical Storm Debby this morning.

The storm just isn't moving fast enough. It's spinning off the coast of Florida, but moving at 5- miles-per-hour. At least one person has died in the storm. Because Debby is a slow-moving storm, it could dump as much as two feet of rain in north Florida.

The National Hurricane Center says Debby could produce more tornadoes today. Flooding is not the only problem people in Florida are dealing with. Several sinkholes have opened up because of the downpours. Florida's governor has already declared a statewide emergency.

At last check, about 35 thousand homes and businesses are without power.
