NACOGDOCHES COUNTY (KYTX) - Two Nacogdoches County jailers have been indicted in connection to the death of an inmate.  Lt. Elizabeth Owens and Sgt. Danny Russell are charged with criminal negligent homicide, which is a state-jail felony.  Both turned themselves into the jail on Monday and have already posted $4,000 bonds.

Sheriff Thomas Kerss told CBS 19, inmate Edwinta Deckard, died on December 5th from natural causes and dehydration.  Kerrs said the 53-year-old had a history of health problems.  Owens and Russell are accused of not providing proper medical care for Deckard which is considered criminal negligence.

Sheriff Kerss said both jailers have been suspended.
