Water has now been restored in Arp

UPDATE 5:19 p.m. - Smith County:

According to the City Water Department, the water main has been fixed after a contract crew hit the line with a backhoe while doing work on a sewer line. 1200 people were affected. They now have water.

The boil water notice is still in effect.


UPDATE 4:10 p.m. - Smith County:

Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton has informed us that the main water main in downtown Arp has broken.  He's been advised that it will be at least after midnight tonight before it is restored. A  boiled water advisory will likely soon be issued.

 


 

ARP (KYTX) - Over 400 residents in Arp are without water due to a major line breakage south of downtown at Bradford and Pauline Streets.

The city of Arp says the water was turned off around 3:00pm Tuesday afternoon. The city tells CBS 19, the water should be turned back on before midnight.

Arp city officials  stated "when the water is turned back on, all drinking water should be boiled until further notice"
