Web Exclusive: Memorable meeting for bullied bus driver

Posted: Updated:

(YNN-NEW YORK) - It's the video seen around the world.  A New York school bus monitor being taunted by kids while it's all being recorded.  A man who saw the video started a campaign to raise money for her to go on a fabulous vacation.  Karen Klein got the chance to meet the man behind the fundraiser.

This is how Karen Klein spends most of her evenings since the video of her being bullied went viral-- reading fan mail that includes gifts and thank you's from around the world.

"Dear Karen, there are no words just tears," reads Klein.  "I made this for you and would feel honored if you would wear this on your vacation."
Tuesday evening was her chance to say thanks to Max Sidorov, who showed up to Karen's home in Greece.  He's the man who kick started the "Let's Give Karen a Vacation" campaign that generated more than a half a million dollars.  "Kinda like Christmas you get all that nervous feeling when you're a kid. I'm glad that she finally got to meet him," says her daughter, Michelle Hawkins.

According to family, the plan is for the two to get to know each other a little better and to give the family the opportunity to extend their gratitude to Max for the vacation Klein has yet to take. "I thought she was going to go into tears for a little bit there and she... would love to thank him for everything he's done for her. I mean, if it wasn't for him, we don't know how far this would have gotten," says Amanda Romig, Klein's daughter.
