Nora Ephron Dies At 71

(CNN) - Legendary writer/director Nora Ephron has passed away after a battle with cancer.

Her son, Jacob Bernstein, told the "The New York Times" she died from Tuesday from pneumonia brought on by leukemia. Ephron is best remembered for classic films "When Harry Met Sally," "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail." Most recently, she wrote and directed the 2009 film "Julie and Julia" starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams.


Ephron also penned several books, including "I Feel Bad About My Neck." She leaves behind a husband, writer and filmmaker Nicholas Pileggi and two children from her previous marriage to Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein.  

Nora Ephron was 71-years-old.
