Prostitution bust leaves 2 dozen behind bars in Shreveport-Bossier

SHREVEPORT (KTBS) - Last week proved busy for members of the FBI's Crimes Against Children Task Force who arrested hundreds of suspected prostitutes and pimps during a nation-wide sting called Operation Cross Country.

Here in Shreveport-Bossier, authorities arrested more than two dozen men and women. Agents say prostitution is a problem everywhere.
"To make as many arrests as we did the week before and to come back the very next weekend and make even more arrests, I thought just shows how often it happens and how many girls are involved," said Sgt. Jerry Oglee.

Oglee says the majority of women arrested in this area are from Dallas where the market is already saturated with prostitutes. He says they come to Shreveport where there's less competition and more money.
"We've had girls tell us in two days, on a Saturday and Sunday, they'll make two to three thousand dollars," said Oglee.

Agents say before coming to Shreveport, the pimps will have more than likely placed ads on the internet to test the market.

In some parts of the country, authorities recovered child prostitutes. The youngest arrested in Shreveport-Bossier was 17-years old. That's considered an adult in Louisiana.
