HOUSTON (KHOU) – Two suspects were behind bars Thursday, accused of robbing a man who placed an ad about an iPad on Facebook.
Devontta Dorsey, 18, and Darrell Wayne Broussard, 17, are charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
According to court documents, the victim posted an ad on Facebook to sell an iPad for $400. On June 25, 2012, he said he got a text from a person who saw the ad and wanted to purchase the device.
The victim said he agreed to meet the buyer at Miller Intermediate School in the 15000 block of Westpark around 6 p.m. that day.
The victim said when he got to the location, he saw two young men walking toward him from a nearby apartment complex.
The victim said he handed one suspect -- later identified as Broussard -- the iPad, and then Broussard said to the second suspect -- later identified as Dorsey -- that it was time to leave.
When the victim asked for money, he said Broussard pulled out a silver handgun and pointed it at the victim, demanding his wallet.
The victim complied, and the suspects reportedly took $100 cash from him.
Then, the victim said the suspects went to his car and grabbed a backpack. Upon discovering it was empty, they handed it back to him and ran off toward the apartment complex.
Having recently investigated a similar case, police said they recognized the method and description of the suspects as Broussard and Dorsey.
When they compiled a photo lineup of men with similar characteristics, police said the victim identified Broussard and Dorsey as the men who robbed him.
Charges were filed on July 26, 2012.
