Lone Star Broadcasting founders inducted into the Junior Achievement's Business Hall of Fame

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) -- Building our station, KYTX CBS 19, years ago is just one of his accomplishments.

Tonight, Phil Hurley and his wife, Jenise, were inducted into Junior Achievement's Business Hall of Fame.

It's the Junior Achievements highest award.

Phil Hurley formed Lone Star Broadcasting and built our Tyler-Longview CBS TV station. The Hurleys have also been involved in many local charitable organizations over the years.

"It means a lot because it's coming from the people who you've really kind of grown up with in the business world," he said. "And, we've been very fortunate, especially with the TV stations."

"Us honoring someone like the Hurleys really fits in with our mission and purpose," Jim Guay, Junior Achievement Executive Director said.

The event also served as a fundraiser for junior achievement.

The organization prepares students with knowledge about financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship.
