Children Are A Gift: Quancell

Posted: Updated:

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) -- It's a warm sunny day as Quancell enjoys spending time outdoors fishing.

"I like to catch catfish and bass. I like to catch bass cause it's a better challenge to catch bass," he said.

"Quancell is a very sweet child. He's desperate to be adopted," Child Protective Services Ashley Gipson said.

This 14 year old has spent the past four years in foster care.

"It's been kind of hard. I miss my parents, my sister. I do see my sister sometimes on holidays."

This polite young man has made a lot of progress in his behavior.

"I'm a good person, at least I try to be."

"He says he is still working to improve daily. In all areas. He's not perfect, no child is perfect. He does have his problems and behaviors but he's aware of them and he's working on them."

Quancell enjoys playing football, video games, riding horses and going to church.

"I just like going because they teach us stuff that we haven't learned like about God and how you should worship him and nobody else."

Quancell would do best with a patient, supportive family, including a strong male role model.

This young man not only needs a second chance at a loving family, but an opportunity to thrive.

"He's just ready to find a family of his own."
