Dallas couple arrested in Longview on assault, prostitution charges

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW (KYTX) -- An alleged prostitution deal in Longview lands a man and woman behind bars. Police say the deal fell through, and the two went after the man soliciting sex with a tire tool. CBS 19's Abby Broyles spoke with investigators today and joins us now from the Longview Police Department.

It all started at a local hotel when police say a Longview man met up with an alleged prostitute from Dallas. But according to this police report, the man showed up, didn't have enough money, she refused service, and he took off.

Police say an ad for sex on the Internet led a Dallas man and woman to Longview Wednesday. Police say 23-year old Airias Ellison and 20-year old Sharika Hopson told them a Longview man agreed to pay them $2,000 dollars for sex with Hopson.  But police say when the man arrived at the LaQuinta inn just off I-20, he only had 200 dollars.

We're told the couple got angry, the man took off, and the alleged pimp and prostitute chased the man in their car.

"At one point, one of the suspects got out of the car, went and got a tire tool out of a garage and actually tried to chase the victim down with the tire tool," Officer Kristie Brian says, "about the time that chase started one of the police officers was driving down that street and was approached by the victim."

Police arrested Ellison and Hopson. Ellison is behind bars for burglary, promoting prostitution, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Hopson is charged with prostitution.

Tonight police are not releasing the name of the man who was soliciting sex - they say at this point he isn't facing any criminal charges.

Ellison remains in the Gregg County jail tonight on $11,000 bond.

Hopson is being held on a $1,000 bond.
