Thousands watch Thunder Over Cedar Creek Air Show

MABANK (KYTX) - Just three days after the fourth of July, East Texans are still celebrating our nation's heritage and those who fought for it.

Thunder Over Cedar Creek drew thousands, despite a slight delay from the weather tonight.

The United States flag brought in the show before the stars roared into action.

"The boys are 3 and 4 they were confused at first, now they think it's cool," says Holley Franklin.

Franklin geared up her kids to watch thunder over Cedar Creek, along with thousands of others as pilots of personal and military aircraft looped and turned thundering just 500 feet from the water.

"God given talent to do it because there's no way in heck I would be able to," says Franklin.

Even though crowds had to wait for a weather delay from dark clouds and lightning.

Kristi Harper had a different reason to watch the show.

Her husband is a pilot with the Texas Air National Guard.

"They do missions all over the united states and deploy on occasion to Afghanistan. Really the only time we see them fly when they come home from the dessert. Special treat for us," says Kristi Harper.

Her 4-year-old daughter, Lauren, agreed.

When asked if she was ready to see your dad fly, Laruen said, "yes."

Another pilot's daughter, Reagan Mull is proud of her dad, too.

"I'm excited he is working for the company he's working for," says Reagan Mull.

Working for our country, and showing pride in their work.

Money raised by the Cedar Creek Veterans Foundation assists with physical and emotional recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured and disabled military personnel and veterans.
