(KYTX) - A heat wave taking over most of the county is being blamed for nearly two dozen deaths.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning for about half of the nation.

The heat has left millions sweating it out, with temperatures reaching triple digits in several cities today including Philadelphia, Washington and Saint Louis.

The New York health department urged residents against staying outside too long and asked them to check on their neighbors.
