(CBS) - President Barack Obama is going on the offensive against Republicans in Congress over the Bush tax cuts.

The President will head to the Rose Garden today and call for a one year extension of the cuts for everyone making less than $250 thousand dollars. House Republicans want a permanent extension for everyone, not just those making less than $250 thousand.

And Democrats in Congress have agreed to making the cutoff at $1 million dollars. The President will make a public appeal for his plan with a series of events across the country next week.
