LUFKIN (KYTX) - It took about 6 hours to find the body of a Lufkin woman who died in a Monday morning house fire on Humason Street.

The fire started around 1:35 a.m. at 607 Humason, according to Lufkin Fire Marshal Chief Steve McCool. MCcool tells CBS 19 Dora Ramos, 65, died in the blaze.

McCool said he believes the large amount of items in the home fueled the fire that made it spread fast.

McCool said 3 engines and a rescue truck responded. Lufkin fire officials are now working to determine the cause of the blaze. McCool did say it started in the kitchen area. There where no working smoke alarms.

A 42-year-old female and an 11-year-old girl escaped the home escaped from a window. A family pet also died in the fire.
