HIGHLAND PARK (CBSDFW.COM) - One person is dead following a double stabbing in Highland Park. The incident was reported Wednesday morning at a home in the 3200 block of Cornell Avenue. Authorities received two 911 calls from inside the home.
A police spokesman said that a man and woman were both stabbed inside of the $2 million mansion. A male victim, identified as 50-year-old John Rodman Steele, has been pronounced dead. A female victim is being treated at a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Based on an early investigation, authorities do not believe that a home intruder is responsible for the stabbings. "Right now, our investigating is centered around the home, the interior of the home, and so there's no active investigation outside the residence or looking for suspects at large," said Sgt. Lance Koppa.
Several people were inside of the home when the victims were hurt, and witnessed the incident. They are now being questioned by police.
