Tyler Junior College hosts job fair for Lon Morris employees

(KYTX) - Sandra White is trying to land another job as soon as possible.

"I've never been without a job my entire life. So, it is kind of unnerving," said White.

The former Lon Morris professor and Director of the Learning Center was furloughed, along with the majority of her co-workers, after the private Methodist college went bankrupt.

"I kept thinking perhaps they would work it out, but reality set in and here we are," said White.

Tyler Junior College decided to host the job fair in Jacksonville to give former Lon Morris employees a chance to apply for part and full time positions.

"We're enjoying the conversations with the employees. They're very positive," said Dr. Homer Hayes.

TJC Provost, Dr. Homer "Butch" Hayes, said the school has received a lot of interest from former Lon Morris employees.

In fact, one former staff member has already been hired.

"I've also had people come to Tyler and talk about employment. So, we're doing our best to help there as we can," added Dr.Hayes.

The help is greatly needed. Sandra has been concerned about her younger co-workers who have no other source of income.

"I've been in that spot before and if I would have missed one paycheck we would have been under," said White.

Sandra is hoping Lon Morris can recover and serve the Jacksonville community once again. But, as for now, she's moving on and trying to do what's best for her family.
