Marshall man shot in head during argument with wife

HARRISON COUNTY (KYTX) - Harrison County 911 dispatchers received a call at approximately 12:15 p.m. on July 12, 2012, regarding an assault with a weapon that had occurred during the evening on July 11, 2012 at Private Rd. 1228 Lot #256 in Marshall, Texas.

The caller, who is a neighbor, stated that the victim, Bonnie Hooper, W/F/8-31-1932, had been assaulted by her husband the previous night and she had barricaded herself in the bedroom of her home. She stated that the suspect, Hubert Dean White, W/M/2-28-1950 was very intoxicated during the previous night and they were arguing. She stated that this morning she crawled through a bedroom window and contacted a neighbor to call for help since the suspect was still in the house and she was afraid to leave the bedroom.

When the call to 911 was made, the caller stated that the suspect had a weapon and advised that he was in the living room area of the house.  As deputies arrived, they entered the house and found the suspect, White, lying on the floor with a bullet wound to his head and a large amount of blood on the floor. He was conscious and further stated he and his wife had been arguing for several days.

The suspect was transferred by Marshall EMS arrived to Good Shepherd Marshall for treatment of the bullet wound. Deputies recovered the weapon and are currently interviewing the complainant and suspect for further details on the shooting.
